Maureen Cole

Volunteer, Church of the Brethren

Maureen Cole has lived in Miamisburg for 50 years, but grew up in rural Jefferson Township where her parents owned a greenhouse, growing flowers and vegetables for sale. After college, she worked for NCR and then spent 30 years at Montgomery County, retiring as the Employee Benefits Manager in Human Recourses. She is a lifetime member of Bear Creek Church of the Brethren, where she serves as Clerk as well as the unofficial church historian. Her grounding in the Brethren faith and her love of history made it a natural decision to join the BHC family.

Maureen has been volunteering at BHC since 2006, with some time off to babysit her grandchildren. Her current duties include creating a descriptive information file for each artifact (other than books) that is acquired or donated to the Center, utilizing a computer-based cataloging system called Past Perfect. The process includes assigning a unique identification number which she then marks on the item for tracking purposes.
