Board Member & Secretary, Church of the Brethren
Born on a farm south of Bradford, Ohio in 1942. (The farm is still in our family and has been for well over 100 years). I was graduated from Bradford High School in 1960 and the University of Cincinnati in 1965 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. I spent my entire working career (35 years) with the Hobart Brother Co. in Troy, OH, starting immediately out of high school as “lawn boy” for Mr. E.A. Hobart, President. After being a co-op student through college, I was hired on as an Electrical Engineer. Throughout my career, I held several management positions, finally retiring as Director of Operations for the Aircraft Ground Power Division where I was responsible for engineering and production.
My wife, Joyce, and I are members of the Troy Church of the Brethren in Troy, Ohio where we continue to serve in many capacities.
Having always been blessed with a passion for history, especially church history, it felt very natural to envision, with Fred Benedict and Don Bowman, how the various Brethren groups in the Miami Valley of Southern Ohio might work together to collect, preserve and share our common, rich Brethren Heritage with others. God has blessed the Brethren Heritage Center to advance well beyond what any of us could have imagined in those early years. I gain the deepest satisfaction from helping others work together to accomplish what each, working alone, could not. My responsibility as Technical Director, at the Center is to support the volunteers with training and technical tools (computers and software) as they do their jobs of accessioning, archiving and cataloging donations as well as other normal office business functions.
